The JVC VL-8  Fully Manual Turntable was introduced by the Victor Company of Japan around 1972–1973 and represented JVC's Top-of-the-Line (TOTL) belt-drive table. Today it is a highly regarded premium vintage well built solid manual turntable. The VL-8 is very hard to find but sought after unit these days.  The unit was produced during the quadraphonic era with a faceplate displaying JVC's "4 channel ready" logo. To utilize this for a quad system requires additional equipment. The discrete 4-channel stereo capability requires the JVC 4MD-10X phono cartridge and the 4DD-10 demodulator (not included). This unit is set up for typical stereo mode. Wow and flutter was specified by JVC to be less than 0.05%, and its signal to noise ratio is better than 60dB. We will include the RCA Cables and Ground Cable shown in photos. If you bring a USB drive we can include a digital copy of the service manual.

Construction: This VL-8 weighs in at a whopping 22 pounds. The platter alone weighs 4 pounds. It's astounding build quality is self evident. This turntable consists of a separate DC servo controlled motor unit, a very heavy layered wood and metal plinth, the UA-55 tonearm, and a electronic two speed speed controller. The unit's speed controller motor provides for fine adjustment of revolution speed through a built-in stroboscope. The unit does allow for owners upgrades and modifications. The unit is capable of accepting multiple high end tonearm combinations. Also due to adjustability many different cartridges. There are no hard wired RCA cables but rather RCA connectors on the base allowing you to pick your own cable type. The drive unit is a DC brushless servo controlled motor from 1972-1973

Condition: The DALAUDIO serviced unit shows minimal signs of use, mainly due to age, generally in VGC as shown in photos. The turntable speed control was serviced and out of spec parts replaced. The table was cleaned, lubed, and both pots and both switches were cleaned and tested. Both 33 and 45 RPM modes are in good operating condition. The dust cover is in good condition with no cracks, and the hinges work as they should.  The UA-55 is a medium mass tubular arm, with adjustable height and oil-damped cueing control. Its mated with a P-Mount Audio Technica 3003 cartridge with a good stylus. The sound is silent and precise, with hardly a peep of rumble or any other detriments. The unit hold speed well after warming up and sounds absolutely wonderful, with a big soundstage and good imaging. Due to the absorbent adjustable rubber feet, heavy build, and built in isolation of the motor and other components, you should be able to enjoy this versatile table for many years. If you bring a USB drive we can include a digital copy of the service manual.
