Heathkit AR -1302 AM/FM Stereo Receiver - The 1302 was one of Heathkits modular top performing medium priced ($239.95 + 19.95 for the cabinet) receivers that boasted "hand crafted by you offers better in only 9 evenings". This 1970s receiver boasted was 30 Watts per channel at 8 Ohms and a host of features that were only available on more expensive models of that timeframe. Surprisingly this model was one of the first to utilize 3 integrated circuits (in FM Sections). The unit inputs are Phono, Aux, AM,FM, Tape. It supports a Tape Monitor Loop, Mono mode, Tone (Flat) or adjustable, Loudness, FM muting, Signal L+R Blend. The horizontal sliders control Volume, Bass, Treble, and Balance. This unit has had the main power supply capacitors replaced with Nichicon Caps, new bulbs, and a few other caps in the control section as needed. The units controls pots, selector and switches were cleaned. We are including the Heathkit catalog pages that display this model from 1972 and 1973. The unit was constructed by an very capable engineer and the build quality throughout is superb.
Heathkit Model AS-1039 2 Way ultra efficient bass reflex speaker system. These early 1970s speakers can be driven with as little as 5 Watts! The components are in excellent condition; the 8" Woofer has rubberized paper surround which does not break down and is in excellent condition. The exponential 6"x 2.5" rectangular horn tweeter has a level control. The capacitors in the speakers crossovers were older paper type and have been replaced with Dayton Audio Grade capacitors. The tweeter volume controls were also cleaned and operate as they should. The speaker terminals were cleaned and tightened. We added some audio grade polyfill to the lower cabinet to tighten bass response. These speakers were also available in kit form and the internal were very well constructed. Overall frequency response is reported to be 70 to 1500 Hz with a crossover at 3500 hz. We found them to be quite musical. Our RTA (Real Time Analyzer) actually reported the overall response was 2K higher than the spec, after we added the new capacitors. We measured 60-17,750Hz with our speaker testing software. Overall a decent speaker not top of the line, but decent for this period. Dimensions are 21.25" H x 12" W x 10.5" D. 8 Ohm Impedance with Power handling in the 5-30 Watt range.
