Vintage Ensoniq DP/4 Parallel Effects Processor - this 1990s-era, professional-grade digital effects unit known for its unique "parallel" architecture. It features four independent 24-bit digital signal processors (DSPs) that can be combined or routed in various ways to create complex effects chains for up to four separate audio signals simultaneously. Its deep programmability and extensive feature set made it a studio staple during its time. The unit was tested by DALAUDIO and found to be operational. This unit is a V1.15 and is 100% original. The battery is still functional, but I may replace it with a new Lithium battery if time permits. A digital copy of the manual is available if you bring a USB drive.

Key features
- Four independent processors: The DP/4 can function as four separate mono effects units, two stereo units, or one large quad-processor unit, with numerous routing possibilities in between. This flexibility allows for complex, creative signal processing that was uncommon in competing multi-effects units.
- Parallel effects routing: The "parallel" design is a standout feature, allowing users to combine effects simultaneously rather than being restricted to a fixed serial chain.
- Extensive effects library: The unit includes a wide range of effect algorithms, such as reverbs, delays, choruses, flangers, pitch shifters, EQs, compressors, and amp/speaker simulators.
- MIDI control: The DP/4 offers comprehensive MIDI implementation, allowing for real-time modulation of almost any parameter via -MIDI controllers and seamless automation of presets.
-Intuitive interface: Despite its complexity, the unit was designed to be user-friendly, with a backlit LCD screen, a data entry knob, and dedicated buttons for each of the four processors.
Who is it for?
The Ensoniq DP/4 was designed for audio professionals in recording studios, post-production, and live sound environments. Its vast capabilities were suited for sound engineers and musicians who wanted a powerful, flexible, and all-in-one effects solution. While it can be overwhelming for beginners, experienced users appreciate its depth and versatility.
Legacy:
The DP/4 was a studio staple and a well-regarded and popular choice in studios during the 1990s.
Versus the DP/2: Compared to its two-processor sibling, the DP/4 provides significantly more complex routing and processing options
Distinct character: Some users find the DP/4's sound to have a distinct, slightly "gritty" character that adds a vintage color to recordings. While it is capable of clean effects, some users prefer it for its modulation and lo-fi textures rather than its reverbs.
